On 3rd and 4th June 2026, one of our staff members participated in the Leave No Youth Behind Project Review Meeting held at Nyali Reef Hotel in Mombasa. The meeting brought together our partner, SOS Children’s Villages Kenya, alongside several grassroots Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) working to improve the lives of young people within their communities.

The two-day review provided an important platform for partners to reflect on project achievements, share lessons learned, discuss implementation challenges, and strengthen collaboration toward a common goal of empowering young people and creating sustainable opportunities for their future.

Day One: Sharing Experiences and Learning from One Another

The first day of the meeting focused on partner presentations, where participating organizations showcased their activities, key achievements, and the challenges encountered while implementing programs in their respective communities.

These presentations highlighted the diverse approaches organizations are using to address issues affecting young people, while also creating an opportunity for meaningful dialogue and peer learning. Partners shared innovative practices, lessons learned, and strategies for overcoming challenges, fostering a spirit of collaboration and mutual support.

The session reinforced the importance of partnerships in driving community impact and demonstrated how collective efforts can contribute to achieving shared development goals.

Day Two: Celebrating Progress and Project Impact

The second day focused on reviewing the overall progress of the Leave No Youth Behind Project. The SOS Children’s Villages Kenya team presented updates on the project’s implementation, highlighting key milestones, success stories, impact achieved, and the growing reach of the initiative.

Participants reflected on the positive changes the project has brought to the lives of young people, particularly through initiatives aimed at enhancing skills development, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment.

One of the highlights of the review was celebrating achievements under the Vijana na Skills initiative, where three young mothers from our organization successfully completed entrepreneurship and business pitching courses. This accomplishment represents a significant step toward economic independence and demonstrates the transformative power of investing in young women’s skills and potential.

The meeting also recognized progress made through the Vijana na Bizoo program, which continues to provide young people with opportunities to strengthen their livelihoods and build sustainable futures.

These successes serve as a testament to the project’s commitment to empowering youth with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to navigate social and economic challenges while pursuing their aspirations.

Strengthening Partnerships for Greater Impact

Beyond project reviews and presentations, the meeting concluded with an engaging team-building session designed to strengthen relationships among partners. The activities fostered teamwork, improved collaboration, and reinforced the shared commitment of all participating organizations.

The session reminded participants that lasting change is achieved through strong partnerships, collective action, and a shared vision for youth empowerment.

As we continue implementing activities under the Leave No Youth Behind Project, we remain committed to supporting young people—especially young mothers and vulnerable youth—to access opportunities that enhance their skills, confidence, and economic resilience.

The review meeting provided valuable insights into the progress made so far while inspiring renewed dedication to the work ahead. Together with SOS Children’s Villages Kenya and fellow community partners, we will continue working to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to thrive, succeed, and build a brighter future.

Because when communities invest in young people, no youth is left behind.
